Product Description
2K Coaltar Epoxy is a high quality two component coal tar based epoxy paint specially developed for salty sea spray in coastal environment and for highly corrosive conditions. Recommended as an anticorrosive coating for the protection and maintenance of wood, fiberglass, concrete/ cement and metal structures such as ship hulls, boats, bridges, radial gates, underground metal pipe lines, off shore oil installations, storage tanks (concrete, cement, steel) and house hold applications. The product once properly applied will provide long lasting protection. The paint coating is black in colour and can not be over – coated with any other colour other than black colour. Not recommended for inside of drinking water tanks.
Product Application
- All painted or corroded surfaces should be cleaned using suitable equipment to remove all loose material, grease, oil and all other foreign matter. Surface to be painted should be clean and completely dry for best performance. Roughen metal or smooth, glossy surfaces for best results. Do not touch the surface after cleaning.
- Mix thoroughly equal volumes of Petrokem Coaltar Epoxy Paint resin and hardener. Five minutes of thorough mixing is recommended. It is recommended to apply a thick coat but if too thick for the application use Petrokem epoxy thinner to thin the product. Use the mixture within 30-45 minutes.
- Apply the mixture to the surface by using a suitable equipment ( brush / roller/ airless spray gun). The paint could be applied to the bare metal or for best protection against corrosion use Petrokem Epoxy Iron Oxide Primer as the primer coat and then apply Petrokem Coaltar Epoxy Paint as the second coat. Allow the paint to dry atleast for 8 hrs and apply another coat if required. Allow the paint to dry atleast for 24 hrs. The coating will gain its full toughness in 72 hrs.
Product Coverage
- Coverage : Approximately 4 – 5 sq.m (40-50 sq.ft) per litre of mixed paint.
